Kinship House Outreach

Kinship House clinicians are reaching out beyond the Portland Metro area to regions of Oregon that may be underserved and seek additional support. Kinship House can provide trainings for parents, community agencies, and child welfare professionals. 

Training topics have included:

Preparing Children for Adoption
How to Make a Life-Story Book
How to Talk to Kids about Adoption
Facilitating Goodbye/Good Luck Visits
Parenting Sexually Abused Children
Aspects of a Successful Transition.
Understanding Impacts of Trauma to a Young Child
Addressing Behavioral or Relationship Disorders in School Aged Children
Parenting Children with Special Needs including Pre-natal Exposure and

   Attachment Problems

Parent Support Groups

Support groups are available as needed.  Contact Kinship House if you are interested in participating in a support group.  Previous groups have focused on:

Foster and adoptive parents with children affected by prenatal exposure to

   drugs and/or alcohol.

Foster and adoptive parents with children experiencing attachment problems.
Birth parents whose children have been or are currently in foster care.

Kinship Press

Kinship Press is a new program developed to provide educational and awareness-enhancing materials in the area of working with children in experiencing foster care or adoption.
